Subject: Oh Boy
I bought the Asus 900A on Tuesday. Thus far, I've been unable to set it up insofar as a wireless network or anything else for that matter. I followed all instructions to the letter - never did come across anything like an OS - no control panel - just little icons which have names assigned - Internet, Work, etc - but no OS. I signed on to the Asus website and I stated my problem - unable to get a wireless connection and don't have a OS or control panel. I was told by live help that the OS is probably corrupted and I would need to use the dvd that came with my little netbook to reinstall it. Does anyone have another solution other than to return the system or to use an external DVD to fix it.
Thanks -

Well, you probably do have an OS - Xandros. Which, if I understand correctly, presents you with a very simplistic desktop by default.
To get into the full desktop: http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:getkde or http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=1083

Uhm, of course you have an OS. That's what's producing the desktop that you're looking at. You can follow Reed's links to gain access to the full desktop, but you should also just try the icons and see what happens. E.g. what do you see when you click on the "Wireless" icon?
