Subject: Modem Tools
Hi, Would anyone know where i could find a link to download modem tools.deb I've got an internal modem installed, it's a HSF modem,I've got the driver files. But can't get it to work. Been into heaps of how to's, tried heaps of stuff and can't work it out. Its a 550mhz PIII, 512mb ram, ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04).

Doing a search on the Ubuntu website, there is no such package called modem-tools.deb or any variation thereof. Where did you see reference to it? Without knowing what you've actually tried in your heap of how to's, it's hard to help. Did you look at this page: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=788760

I found it,It wasnt a .deb , it was .tar.gz file and it is called modemtool.tar.gz. did me no good though, still cant connect.Thankyou for your help. [Modified by: I81b4u on January 12, 2009 02:37 AM]

You know Linux works for many Win modems. The problem is finding a distro that cares about that. At least you have a Ubuntu based distro. It is complicated for me and I have used Linux for awhile. I believe you need to install kernel headers to get kernel source programs to work. Use Synaptic and search for your modem type. It will tell you what dependencies need to be filled. -tux-
