It is an IM client that supports just about every IM protocol there is, including AIM, Google, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, XMPP, MSN, et al. Try the package installer - it should have an entry for Pidgin. If not, then you can download it from http://www.pidgin.im/ and install it yourself. You need to read the documentation (hard copy or on your system) to determine how to install new software on your system. Sometimes real fast is almost as good as real time. Remember, Google is your friend!

You need to enable the advanced desktop first: http://www.laptopmag.com/advice/how-to/aspire-one-apps.aspx Also look here: http://the.taoofmac.com/media/Acer/Aspire%20One/AA1notes.html Go to 'essentials' then 'pidgin'.
