You can do an x86 version just like everyone else. Mac switched from the fabled ppc processor a few years ago and now you use intel like the rest of us. You could probably actually use 64 bit support as well but I suggest to you to try it out via virtualization first. Check out virtualbox and install that first then install a version of linux under that first. You don't wanna destroy anything for something that may not suit you. And don't listen to the guy before me he isn't up to date on Mac tech. If you don't break it you'll never learn how to fix it.

The only reason I know is because I work on them. I've started to boycott them for personal use as well. You would of been right on anything G5, G4, and I think G3 but when they switched they are effectively just another PC manufacturer with their own OS and ridiculous pricing scheme. If you don't break it you'll never learn how to fix it.
