Subject: NTLDR is missing
Can someone please tell me if I am doing something wrong. I just downloaded PClinuxOS_2007 and loaded it onto a blank hardrive in my laptop. It starts just fine with the disc and loads fine to the harddrive. But when I try to restart the error comes up: NTLDR is missing.
Press ctrl - alt - del to restart
Is there a way around this?

You did not install either LILO or Grub bootloader. I believe you still have Windows bootloader on the hard drive. Did the drive have Windows NT or XP or Vista before you loaded PClinuxOS 2007? you can put the PClinuxOS CD in and install Grub. I have not use PClinuxOS so I can't help you with that. sorry

This problem is not caused by linux, it's a windows problem because of viruses, abnormal windows shutdown or defected hdd.
You can fix this problem using your original windows installation cd-rom by copying the files "ntldr" and "ntdetect.com" to your root directory.
Or by booting the computer using your windows cd-rom and proceeding with a normal windows installation, then your installed windows will be detected by the installation program and it will ask you if you want to repair the installed windows, just press 'R'. This method won't delete your data on the disk.
