Subject: linux xp wifi setup problems
I got the linux xp cd and downloaded it and I'm impressed with the features. Now I've been using to ubuntu in the past and with my wireless setup it detected the wireless card and picked up the wifi that I get at my wireless cafe but I'm having problems with linux xp, it detects the card but when I startup firefox it gives me that error message network not found. can you offer any suggestions?

It might detect the card and mount it, but you still may need to connect to the wi-fi access point, especially if there are more than one within range. Open the network manager tool and it should help get you sorted out. Once it is connected, the system should show that it is connected and Firefox should be able to access the internet.

BTW, I have no experience with this distribution and I just accessed their web site to see what they are offering. It sounds a lot like Linspire/Freespire. I used to use Freespire on my Dell laptop, and it was able to access wi-fi without much problem, though I had to have it install the proprietary Windows driver for me. It was nice enough to not require that I manually configure the ndiswrapper, so the experience was fairly painless. Hopefully you won't have to install the driver for the card. As you mentioned about Ubuntu, it is really good at handling wi-fi cards. I use it on laptops when I can just because of that feature.
