When I get to the partition menu I just do the automatic partioning. Giving all of it to Ubuntu, no dual boot. However, I keep getting errors of it not being able to create the file system and the swap partition. Whats going on? Is my hard drive dead?

Can you please be more specific about the errors your are getting? There are a lot of possibilities and the actual error messages and/or codes can tell us a lot. Thanks.

Well it varies between being unable to write the file system, to getting partially installed and failing to install a specific file.

Could you post a copy of the installation screen, or its information, at the point where it presents the setup options?

if it's getting partially done and then failing because of a specific file it may be a corrupt iso. you could try re-downloading it if you have another computer on the net.

Don't have a screen cap but its just saying that installing Partition X on X Drive failed and returns me to the partition screen. Tried both the standard and alternate version of 10 and about every file format that was available. None of it works.
