How can i get codecs for linux

Subject: How can i get codecs for linux
Hello every body , well i'm a new user of linux, in fact i'm using Ubuntu and i have a lil' bit problem wich is playing audio and vedios on it, it asks me to set up or to use codecs and i don't know how to get them if some body can show me from where can i download them please help me.

Go to applications>accesories>terminal Type: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras Might want the medibuntu repos enabled too: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

simple .go to root directory you have a music folder just paste a song n run it...it will play you need to play from the music folder present in the root directory only
