Subject: Xfce Corrupted?
Hello, I have been using Xubuntu for over half a year now and have really enjoyed it. About a week ago, I was using a usb floppy drive that didn't seem to like the system, and the system froze to where I had to manually turn it off, and when I had restarted, the top and bottom bars were gone. To me, it looks like Xfce is corrupted in some way, but I really wouldn't be one to know. If it sounds like Xfce is corrupted, is there a way I can reinstall it without reinstalling the distro? How else could I fix this? Thanks

It's fun being a n00b.

Check you system to see if there is an old or backup copy of your Xorg.conf file. If there is, copy the current file to another name temporarily. Then copy the old file to Xorg.conf and re-boot, and see if that fixes your problem.

I believe in ~/.config there should be a conf file for the xfce panel. Delete that and restart X. See if that helps. Or delete ~/.config altogether and restart X, it should reset the Dekstop to Xubuntu's defaults.

Thanks, I would have thought the problem would have been in my configuration, but I guess not. I'll keep looking, and I appreciate your help.
