Subject: youtube stops playing after a few seconds
Has anyone been able to resolve this? I'm not sure if it's just my computer or what but the problem is I was on Ubuntu and then it started to cut out the sound in youtube and then it started to cut out the sound in my music players. I tried every music player I liked and it still would stay right. I reinstalled Ubuntu and it did the same thing. After a few plays on youtube it would shut off the sound. It would continue loading the video but it would stop the video form paying and stop the sound. Yesterday I put Mandrake on my computer and it did fine until this morning. The same thing happened. So I have no idea what is going on. Help?

Since this happens with several different distributions it is probably a hardware problem. Please provide the following information: 1. Computer make/model 2. Version #'s of the Linux distributions you have tried. 3. Amount of RAM installed 4. What browser you are using (name + version) to access YouTube. 5. Which flash player version plugin you are using. Is this problem only happening after you try to view a YouTube video, or does it happen at other times? Which sound system do you use? Is it ALSA, OSS, or what?

I think you're right with the hardware problem. I just dont' understand why it's doing this now. It has two ports --the front, where i usually listen to everything from and a back port. even after hooking my sound to the back port nothing works. Gateway with pentium 4 processor Ubuntu 8.04 (couldn't get 8.10 to install) Now: Mandrake 2008 2 stick of 256 ram firefox 3.0.5, and currently firefox 2.0.0.6 adobe acrobat the newest one they have on the site. With Ubuntu I tried everything before the updates and everything after the updates. I haven't updated Mandrake yet. Well it used to be just youtube, now it's everything. I turned my computer off and when I turned it back on Kaffine and Amarok wouldn't play. And also it's not working on any video site I try. On Ubuntu it was on default and then I changed it to ALSA. When I installed Mandrake yesterday everything was set to default then when i turned the computer on and nothing worked I changed everything to ALSA and still nothing is working.

Does it play any sounds when you would expect it to give a beep or chime? IE, system sounds?
