Okay, we all know that what comes in the download or the disk is just half the story. Linux is all about community! Please share some of the characteristics of your favorite distro that make it worth being a part of! Also, what are some of the resources that you couldn't be a linux user without?
I'll start: Recently, I've been using Sabayon. This distro has an irc channel that can be accessed directly from the website, or from a default desktop icon. There are informed, patient, and generous volunteers on the channel almost 24 hours day. Just lurking in this channel raised my IQ several points. I think.
I'm on ethernet now, but I never could have made it as a Linux user without the help from linuxwireless.org. Thanks guys! Also, I have to admit that I love those lovable Ubuntu forums. I haven't used the distro, but I've found more answers there about my linux questions than every wiki on the net combined.

I've used quite of few distros (OCD). Right now I just installed Zenwalk 5.2 to wade in the waters of Slackware. Has Irc also like Sabayon. I tried Sabayon but was overwhelmed by all its installed options that I probably wouldn't use. It's a slick flashy distro though.
Ubuntu in all it's flavors I use daily. I like apt distros.
AntiX I use like a girlfriend. She is fast and easy to use.
Puppy has the capability of being adapted to most any Laptop and I have found it to be as faithful as any Dog. Puppy is a fine distro in my book. I run it also
NimbleX is a wonder for how well it works being made and supported by one guy. I like it also and run it.
Later I might try and see if I have the skill set to run Sidux, but for now I wish to learn a bit about Zenwalk. The Wikis and documentation is excellant. The forum is friendly, and it's fast on my IBM T23, P3, 384 mb ram, 30 gig partition. Lilo is something I aint used to yet, cuz I've been using Grub exlusively. Live and Learn.

I'll bite. I've distro hopped like mad since I started using linux just over a year ago. But I've settled down to Sidux on my desktop and Arch on my laptop.
I use Sidux for the sheer size of the debian repos, and because it runs twice as fast as Ubuntu on the same hardware. That's not an official benchmark, just an impression. I also quite like the smxi scripts, though they aren't officially part of the distro. I went with Sidux over debian for the 2.26.28 kernel and ext4 support.
I use Arch because I love the rolling release system, and its simplicity of design. I learned more about linux using Arch than any other distro. Also, pacman is my favorite package manager.
I also don't use ubuntu but refer frequently to their forums and community wiki. Arch also has a great and informative wiki.

One distro that has become somwhat popular and I happen to work on it is PC/OS. Its fast, easy to use, has a great user interface. Of course I may be biased, give it a look see you may find what you are looking for.
