meme Joined: Feb 21, 2009 Posts: 4 Other Topics	Posted Feb 21, 2009 at 12:13:09 AM Subject: changing linux distro? need suggestions i am still currently using ubuntu 7.04... could not use the later versions because of some hardware incompatibility.... i am currently waiting and maybe 9.04 might solve problems but if it does not, could you please suggest a distro that is free, and has many installable applications as that of ubuntu? willing to shift to kde if needed... willing to install any distro no matter how technical... btw:i am only a cs student. and installing linux on a laptop... thanks

I've heard of problems if you try to update on some systems, but a clean install works OK. Sometimes real fast is almost as good as real time. Remember, Google is your friend!

Two more approachable distros are SimplyMEPIS and Sabayon.
