Are you running dpkg with root priveleges? Type "sudo dpkg --configure -a"

Sometime a re-boot helps when trying to sort out Synaptic issues. No idea why though.

Hi---- I am using GoS, and I also encountered same problem, The synaptic package manager showed an error message. I gave the same command "sudo dpkg --configure -a" but console keeps showing error message, It further shows a XML schema/File error. ...... I have tried out everything but still package manager wont recover... So need some help, ..... Thanks
