Subject: What is the difference between American and British language
hey friends, i have many a times observed that the American clients ask for a different sort of language and grammar. they write different grammar sometimes. i just want to know what should be taken care while writing for an American reader? is there any specific difference to be made?

Some quick pointers. Spelling differs: color not colour flavor not flavour tons vs tonnes Colloquial terminology differs: bucks vs quid cents vs p tv vs telly head vs loo or bog chicks vs birds Basic grammar and sentence structure is the same, but usage, spelling, and common expressions differ due to cultural divergence.

Sometimes real fast is almost as good as real time. Remember, Google is your friend!

hey, thank u so much for your guidance i know the difference of spellings but i think the main difference is between the Colloquial terminology and expression. even i have found difference in the usage of prepositions also. Can you suggest!!!!!

Any language that is written/spoken over a large area will experience semantic as well as grammatic drift. If you compare the English spoken/written in various parts of the US, Canada, and UK you find these differences. The good thing, is that accent aside, we can easily understand those in all these divergent areas. So, my suggestion is to write grammatically correct English, and not worry as to whether or not it is American or English English. We will understand you just fine.

Ya thanks...its gr8 to listen..but in past i hv had few problems where clients have made changes in my writing, which was really not correct grammatically...so i was confused...
