A 21 month old company with growing success, a strong client list, and lots of money in the bank, Positive Energy is hiring its first Systems Administrator! Be a key member of our technical operations team to ensure ongoing production support to our clients. Work with our engineering team and client deployment teams to deliver a highly available, scalable and issue-free solution to our clients. The systems administrator will be primarily responsible for performance tuning of all web and database services, operating system and application level security configuration, user management and all routine server maintenance and backups. About the job: • Provide day-to-day management of multiple Linux servers and 7x24 on-call support • Setup and configure environments for new and existing clients. Build upon and improve existing backup and replication solutions. • Maintain server software with latest bug and security fixes. • Handle all server software security matters including: auditing existing procedures, developing new policies and responding to client security compliance. • Troubleshoot application and environment issues and ensure that system availability, performance and other services level agreements are met. • Validate server stack in support of major operating system upgrades. • Build upon our existing monitoring infrastructure to minimize downtime and performance issues. • Manage user accounts across all environments. • Provide support for penetration testing of our applications. • Future responsibilities may include capacity planning for servers and providing geographic redundancy in multiple data centers. About You: • You have BS Degree in Computer Science or related Information Technology field • You have 5+ years of system/network administration in support of database-driven web applications in Linux/Unix environments • You have worked in high-availability hosting environment • You have excellent working knowledge in Linux, shell scripts, load balancers, network routing protocols and firewalls. Experience managing relational databases a plus. • You are able to build metrics and tools to track application and database availability performance and job status. • You demonstrate knowledge of SaaS (on-demand environments) • You have experience with enterprise applications, software development QA and release processes. • You are a self-starter, with a positive attitude and willingness to work at a flexible schedule and play multiple roles in a start-up environment. • You demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities About Us: Arlington, VA- based start-up, Positive Energy (www.positiveenergyusa.com), creates innovative software products that promote energy efficiency in the residential market.
