hi everybody i have an old p4 running ubuntu, and a couple of laptops running vista. what i can't seem to find out is whether the storage on the server will appear as a drive on the windows computers. will programs like itunes/wmp/winamp etc be able to make playlists and stream the files remotely? also my home network uses a generic wireless modem/router, will i be able to give the linux pc local access only? -matt

To share files on a network between linux and windows, look into Samba. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpSamba : Beyond that I don't network with any windows machines, so I couldn't say. You may want to post on a more populated forum, such as www.linuxforums.org/forum
