Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of Jr. System Administrators/Application Support personnel guiding and mentoring them to ensure prompt and accurate resolution of most problems escalated through Helpdesk
• Train junior staff as well as set direction and implement processes for 2nd tier escalations of IT Operations teams
• Lead projects independently and work with other IT members to ensure their success
• Lead daily operations and support activities of the Systems & Application Support teams
• Guide and assist team members to keep projects on track
• Implement best practices such as security, OS patching, networking, code deployment and configuration management
• Analyze, recommend, and implement configuration and hardware changes
• Troubleshoot, diagnose complex problems and provide potential recommendations for resolution of issues
• Support complex web-based applications as well as internal IT systems
Qualifications:
• Experience implementing and maintaining managed production environments
• Good understanding of networking including routing, VLAN, VPNs, etc.
• Experience with web development technologies and tools
• Supporting a large number of users in multiple locations a plus
• Established track of team leadership on projects
• Scripting in languages such as bash, Perl, Ruby
• Wizard at Unix shell scripting and expert at Unix command line
• Good understanding of inner workings of Microsoft operating systems, including techniques of remote administration and scripting
• Experience with Linux or flavors of Unix from perspective of system administration in production environment are required
• Experience with LDAP, Samba, Postfix, and related tools a plus
• Experience with high availability and load environments with large data volumes at multiple locations a plus
• Experience with Asterisk PBX or exposure to phone technologies a plus
• Good working knowledge of SQL a plus
• PostgreSQL or other ‘real’ database experiences a major plus
• Good verbal and written communication skills are important
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of UNIX system administration
