Essential Functions:

• Candidate will be working with team of developers and administrators guiding
and building supporting infrastructure for complex web based applications
• Candidate will be involved in setting architectural direction and be responsible for implementing parts of the system
• Lead projects independently and work with other members of the team to ensure its success
• Establish a track record of leading projects, directing other team members on the projects and keeping projects on track
• Implement server farm best practices such as security, OS patching, networking, code deployment and configuration management
• Recognize and recommend new equipment to solve needs and to perform the necessary stress testing of the recommended equipment
• Analyze, recommend, and implement configuration and hardware changes
• Plan, manage, and execute large scale projects
• Troubleshoot, diagnose complex problems and to provide potential recommendations for resolution of issues
• Provide mentoring for other team members
• Support complex web-based applications
• Maintain a web farm in dot-com setting
• Provide tier 2 support to Operations

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with high availability and load environments with large data volumes at multiple locations
• Experience implementing and maintaining managed production environments
• Good understanding of networking including routing, VLAN, VPNs, etc.
• Experience with web development technologies and tools
• Supporting a large number of users in multiple locations a plus
• Good working knowledge of SQL a must
• PostgreSQL or other ‘real’ database experiences a major plus
• Established track of team leadership on projects
• Strong scripting in languages such as bash, Perl, Ruby
• Wizard at Unix shell scripting and expert at Unix command line
• Good understanding of inner workings of Microsoft operating systems, including techniques of remote administration and scripting
• 5+ years Linux system administration experience is required
• Experience with OpenLDAP, Samba, Postfix, Radius and related tools a plus
• Experience with Asterisk PBX or exposure to phone technologies a plus
• Good verbal and written communication skills are important
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of UNIX system administration
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills
• Experience with virtualization such as xen/vmware
