After installing the software i reboot my computer and it took me to the login screen the i put my user name and password and then it says [myusername@localhost]$ What should i put here [myusername@localhost]$ thanks

For some reason, the graphical desktop environment isn't starting up. Try typing "startx" (without quotes). If that works, for some reason your install didn't configure the system to start the desktop interface. If it doesn't, it's probably an issue with your graphics card. It may be better, if he knows what the root password is, to login as root and then do init 5. While he's at it, as his user he should do, with out quotes, "tail ~/.xsession-errors" and see if it did indeed crap out.
