Subject: mouse and keyboard not working
HI, I've tried to run several live CD's (Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, Mandriva) and one embedded on a flash drive (DSL) but all of them have the same problem. When booting I can select from the boot menu (run live cd or whatever) with the keyboard, but when the desktop (in DSL) or the set up menus appear (PCLinuxOS and Mandriva) the mouse and keyboard simply do not work. The mouse cursor remains in the centre of the screen and the lock keys (num, scroll and caps) have no effect on the indicator lights. they are both regular ps/2 items, the motherboard is an ASRock K7S8X and I've got a Nvidia GeForce FX5200 Does anyone know why this may be happening and how I can fix it? thanks in advance.

Hey Buddy! Im sticking my neck out on this one but i think its probably your system isnt capible of running the newer distro's. But if you could post your system specs we'll have a good look at it. DSL or Damn Small linux is quite compact but id say try running it off a cd instead of a flash drive. It should work :D Kind Regards

I've seen this problem with USB devices, but not with PS/2 devices. Use the acpi=off option when booting.

it looks like I may have a solution. I've aquired a USB mouse, when plugging that in the mouse works, although the keyboard still does not. It seems my system does not like PS/2 and I may have to find a USB keyboard to get it working.
