Subject: boot from CD - Xubuntu
Hi there. I'm new to the linux world. I wanted to try out Xubuntu on an old 98 of mine.I thought I could boot it from the CD and try it out before actually installing it but could not figure out how. Is there a way to do this? Also, once I install it, can I still access my old files or does installing it automatically format the hard drive? Thanks for the help! Dude.

Well I tried the LiveCD from Ubuntu and it worked fine (slow because it's a live CD). Perhaps you should try that instead. It loads the OS without installing. :) Just remember to burn the ISO with the Lead Out, otherwise it won't be recognized on the boot.

Hey Dude! You need to setup your bios to boot from cdrom for it to work. Be warned do not install it unless you want to wipe you 98 os. If you want to dual boot you will need to partition your hard drive and install to the partition. Kind Regards

OS X 10.4.11 and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10, not forgetting fedora :D
