Good morning. I have finally taken the leap and installed Ubuntu 7.10. It is remarkable! All works well with the exception of reestablishing my wireless connection. It works perfectly when I boot up Windows XP (sorry). Data: - Wireless PCI Card = LinkSys WMP54GS (802.11g) - OS = Unbuntu v7.10 Shouldn't Ubuntu 7.10 have current drivers? Any help is greatly appreciated. I am very anxious to try out the web on my new OS. Thanks

Thanks for the quick response.......... It's a shame this couldn't be easier. Surely there is some genius out there that can speak the Newbie language and get us through this so we can enjoy this wonderful OS. Thanks again.....standing by.....N

Progress? Here is my current standing: 1. My Linksys Wireless PCI Card (BCM 4318) is recognized by the Ubuntu Device Manager 2. A review of installed Drivers indicates the BCM43xx driver is installed 3. I can successfully PING the network and get 5 STRONG Pings in return, thereby my card can see the network.. 4. Regrettably, I STILL cannot connect to the Web Questions: 1. Don't know whether I have WEP ASCII or Hex.... 2. I think it is now simply a matter of entering the correct connection data/critieria, ie.; IP Address, WEP ASCII vs WEP Hex, ESSID, and Key, etc.etc...etc............. Who knows? Anybody feel free to weigh in...............N

heres an idea, click applications > add/remove > search for Kwlan wlan manager, making sure that all avalible applications is selected to the right of it. Install this, reboot, open up what you just installed by clicking on applications > internet > rutil wlan manager; by doing this we will see if your system knows that there is a wireless device installed. The software maybe installed but this something else. this will also help to connect to wireless networks and the gui makes it a lil easier to deal with things. Just reply saying what you pinged, if it wasnt a website address like www.bbc.co.uk do it and let me know.
