Nestlé to buy Google

Friday, reports surfaced that Microsoft was interested in buying Google. Instead, food giant Nestlé announced that its sweetened offer to buy the Internet search engine company has been accepted.

Google will complement Nestlé's long list of well-known brands, including Perrier water, Stouffer's, LifeSavers, and Nesquick. Nestlé says Google will be renamed NesGoogle and have a recipe section added to its main page.

"We believe that this acquisition will be good for the consumer," says Nestlé CEO Peter Brabeck. "Now anyone on the Internet can connect to NesGoogle, which will automatically determine their region and point them to retail outlets for Nestlé products."

Sources close to the deal disclosed that Google CEO Eric Schmidt was coerced into accepting the deal with Nestlé. Mr. Brabeck is alleged to have placed a large bowl of Nestlé Crunch Pieces in front of Mr. Schmidt during their discussions, refusing to allow him to eat any until agreeing to the takeover, while promising a free lifetime supply upon completion of the deal.

Asked to comment on the deal, Mr. Schmidt had very little to say; his only comment sounded something like "Mmmmmm."

Nestlé CEO Brabeck, asked what Nestlé plans to buy next, replied that NescroSoft has a nice ring to it.

Why oh why?
Google sold out to Nestle?
Why?
I would much rather Hershey bought them. You know the kisses and all.

"Just a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go down.
Just a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down in a most delightful waaaaay."

The only'chocolate' that is likely to come with Windows is Ex-Lax.

I wish I would have...

Posted by: Anonymous Coward on November 03, 2003 05:22 AM
kept the emails that I wrote to Google concerning this issue. Basically I said, "If MS buys you, I'm not using you anymore."

They replied, "We will not be merging with MS, ever!"

I think Google as a company, is very pro-Linux, and cool towards MS. If you look in their Directory/Computers/Operating Systems, you will find that Linux is in bold letters, and Windows is not. That tells me they are taking a poke at MS.

And I believe that Google knows that they will be/are huge. I read somewhere that Googles potential for income will be at least billions of dollars a year, if not closer to 15-25 billion a year. Why sell off your future of fortune for minor comfort now?

I think he's talking about Microsoft, not Nestle. The MS attempted merger is for real.

Netcraft and google

Posted by: Anonymous Coward on November 03, 2003 11:25 AM
Well according to netcraft their servers are either Linux or "Unknown". Better a candy company buy them instaead of Microsoft. Although use both Linux and Microsoft OSes, I just don't trust Microsoft to deliver "unbiased" searching..

According to NetCraft, Microsoft's web servers run "IIS 6.0 on Linux". They don't. They use Akamai boxen as proxies (AFAICT), but run IIS 6.0 on Windows 2003. Don't trust NetCraft to do your scouting for you.

Caught the subject right off and had to read it. Dark choc is better for you anyway.

Chocolate=brain candy!

Nestlé chococlate sucks, So does the baby formula they foist on third world counties to convince the women there that breatfeeding is inferior to infant formula...

Have Joseph Schmidt buy them out and then call it Schmoogle.

Googlè

Posted by: Anonymous Coward on November 07, 2003 06:25 PM
Now, why would they use NesGoogle, that doesn't have a nice ring to it.

I ask you, whats wrong with Googlè?

That way they wouldn't have to change much in their logos, and for those who don't want to, they can still pronounce it Google, just with a silent accent ;)

If you don't notice the topic, you are yummy...
