Linux.com is not only a great source for information, it can also be the home for your own ideas and opinions regarding the world of Linux and open source software.

Every registered Linux.com user will have the ability to contribute to the Community Blogs section, using the My Blog interface.

The My Blog system is easy to use and will let you post blog entries from your account for all Linux.com users to view. This blog entry will walk you through how to use My Blog.

Creating an Entry

To create a blog entry,

  1. In the My Account module on the right side of your profile page, click the My Blog Dashboard link.
  2. Click the Write New Entry button. The blog editor window will pop up.
  3. Type a new blog into the editor. You can enter and format text, insert graphics, and add links.
  4. Click Save periodically to prevent loss of data due to time outs.
  5. Click the Blog title (click to edit) link at the top of the editor to enter a headline for your blog entry.
  6. When finished, click Save & Close.

Configuring Your Blog

  1. In the My Account module on the right side of your profile page, click the My Blog Dashboard link. The My Blog Dashboard page will open.
  2. Click the Preferences tab.
  3. Enter the title for your blog and a brief description.
  4. Click Submit to enter your changes.

You do not have the permissions to post or edit blog entries. Please contact the site admin.

I don't have a `Write a new Entry` button. In it's place; I just get the message:
"You do not have the permissions to post or edit blog entries. Please contact the site admin."

Any ideas how I can go about resolving this?
M. Thanks

The blog post system seems to work for me. An alternate way to access it (if you're logged in) would be through:
http://linux.com/myblog-admin

I suppose if that doesn't resolve the problem, you should contact the site administrator, http://linux.com/contact.

Thanks twoelectric,
This problem was during the BETA testing and has since been fixed before the system went live.

Need help
written by Luisa Marttinez, July 22, 2009
Hi to all who read this and or Join in helping others, I need help with my issue hopefully someone can help me as well. I have an AcerAspireOne laptop with a linux operating system, I received a pop up on my computer saying i had an update, i followed the instructions and then once the upgrade was complete and the computer was re-booted i no longer have the ability to go on the internet, i disconnected my wireless router and Modem and re-set it, thinking that would do the trick but have had no such luck, I then went into the settings, and went to click on network connections which normally gave me the ability to enter and add new connections, or edit existing. since that didnt work i hooked up the modem directly to the laptop and it still does not read the available connections. in the past once the computer is turned on it browsed for available wireless connections and now it does not even attempt. what can i do? how do i switch the computer to factory settings? and if so will it work? so frustrating.

I have the same problem as Rovanion Luckey. I cannot publish my blogposts. Also, the settings for my blog get lost all the time. Seems all very buggy.

Please, can someone point me to an admin or someone who can help? Thank you.

@ceyhun
I believe an admin must approve your blogpost first. It took 2 days before my first post was published.
