Do I have to edit it manually, or there's a command to modify it?
You would edit it manually with a text editor such as vim, nano, emacs, kate etc.

Archlinux, for example, works ala BSD: /etc/rc.d/ ....

But yes that could differ, someone would have to let us know what distro they were using before we could help further though :P
You are totally right, it's just that one of the main (strong for me) points of Archlinux is the BSD script way ;)
