Atheros drivers (Ath5k) are already in the kernel and working nicely. You do know that backtrack sets its networking off by default when installed, don't you?
It works with BT4, I've the same card and it works, you need to manually set it up properly as Goineasy9 said
The correct driver for the wireless chipset is ath9k, it should auto-load unless you are on an older version of backtrack that was released before the inclusion of that driver. You can try to load is manually by typing "sudo modprobe ath9k" into a terminal.
