You can try upgrading your intel driver by enabling the X-Updates PPA:
I don't see Intel graphics in your lspci, only nvidia. Are you using Open Source drivers or have you installed the nvidia proprietary drivers?
I agree with this question, depending on if you are using the official proprietary Nvidia drivers, the kernel included nouveau driver or another third party driver that will tell us where to look.
Also have you reviewed your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and any other Xorg log files to see if any error messages have been populated?
Please excuse my ignorance guys, I still really am in the early stages of the learning curve with Linux even though I've been using it for about 2 years now. I don't use it as much as I should since I have it networked with my XP machine and I leave it on all the time since it's just a tired old Dell 2400 with a single core CPU. This box I installed Linux on was my very first custom build, a hot rod compared to the Dell. I keep it turned off, my wife uses it more than I do just because its so much faster than the Dell. With my schedule, it's just easier to come in and wiggle the mouse on my XP box and check my email since that's usually all I really have time to do. Hopefully, in the real near future I can start spending a little more time trying to figure Linux out so I can contribute to some of these forums instead of being a burden to those that are contributing now. So, with that being said, I wanted to thank you for your time and contribution. I love Linux so far, I just still don't know enough about it so it's frustrating for me because I like to try fixing things on my own. Now, as far as those updates went, I watched it as it was updating and everything was saying nvidia from what I can recall. Here's the output from the file you listed above.
