I have a Asus PC 1000 netbook and want to buy a dvd writer but unsure as to whether they are compatible
with a Linux OS?

Can someone advise me please?

Thanks.

If you have a usb port a DVD writer should work. I assume you are using Linux ... the kernel has contained drivers for DVD drives for quite a while.

Hi

Yes I am using Linux but don't know which one as I understand there are several different versions.

I've looked at the spec. for a number of external DVD writers but none say they are compatible with Linux OS.

I've actually asked for some help in finding out which version of Linux this netbook uses elsewhere on this forum.

Thanks for your time and reply I feel more confident about going out and buying a DVD writer now!

Best wishes.
