Acer Aspire One Webcam

Link to this post 10 Aug 09

Good evening.

It appears that I cannot use my built-in webcam online for things such as eBuddy or Stikam I am running Linpus Linux Lite on an Acer Aspire One.

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi England...

Usually that's a hardware interaction issue. The best thing to start troubleshooting is to look at the log files when you are trying to interact with the webcam.

What does /var/log/messages say? (you can see that with the command: less /var/log/messages and then scroll through. You can also check for hardware messages by running the command dmesg.

Might be a good thing to open up a terminal and run the messages file real-time: tail -f /var/log/messages Then fire up your application to see what happens when you tell it to interact with your webcam.

Also, is it seeing the webcam? By running lspci you can probe your hardware and see what the kernel is aware of.
