Anyone here using a HP G60 or G70 series laptop with Slackware v13-64?

If so, have you been able to get sound to work with this hardware/software mix and if so, how did you do it?

better late than never :)

Slackware by default is muting the soundcard. Maybe this is the case? Try alsamixer, or a program like kmix from GUI

I was reviewing the build script last night and it appears that they are trying to set it to75% by default, but something in the syntax is not working correctly.

If you are interested, check out the file rc.alsa in ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/slackware/slackware64-13.1/source/ap/alsa-utils/rc.alsa.gz. It looks like the daemon script is set to apply defaults if a prior mixer configuration is not set, so in the source there may be an issue with a preset configuration having it already muted.
