RE: Upgrading Limpus Linux Lite v1.0.3.E
Assuming there is a little bit of confusion, might be it is Linpus Linux, though I am not sure, cause Linux is open SW and there r variant flavors of Linux OS. As far as my knowledge, Linpus Linux Lite is designed specifically to meet all low-cost PCs and mobile devices requirements. Running smoothly on a lower grade hardware unit. Actually it offers 2 kinds of Desktop modes like "Simple" and "Advanced". Now query arises that, which one u r using now !! Acer Aspire One and Norhtec Gecko come with Linpus Lite pre-installed, Remember, Linpus uses Xfce as default wind manager..... though u mentioned here u r the owner of Acer Aspire One, might be it is not fully open source and some of the feature is sharedware, if u register & purchase a full version, probably u can overcome this issue.

RE: MS Outlook Replacement
MS Exchange is a SW where a central server connects many users via a single interface that typically a web or email client, which enables users to share contacts, notes, to-do lists, scheduling and calendar information, as well as act as an email client. It is the big brother of OE, which is wind’s default desktop email client. However, why r u stuck up, don't know, but Evolution / Thunderbird / Zimbra Desktop or even IBM Lotus Notes..... which have rich features / equivalent almost like OL. Search on the net and u will get lots of info on the same with configure, installation, uses, requirements and more !

RE: Media players????
Yes, u can install any Linux distro as dual boot side by side win7. Linux has strong GRUB utility that can easily handle multi boot system and after installing it provides option / menu to choose which OS u want to invoke first. Choice of flavor depends on U! Though u can consider as Fedora / SuSE / Ubuntu / Mint or centOS (desktop) in which some r free and some r non-free.

RE: Project management
Though I am not sure, but if u want to organize scientific papers about project management on Linux, U can take help from any of the SW that available on Linux OS. This kind of SW is used by project managers looking to plan and control resources, costs and schedules to meet the objectives of a project. To help plan a project, there are a number of different types of project management tools in which Gantt Chart, which provides a graphical displays of all the tasks that a project is composed of. It should allow one to specify several different fields for each paper, such as: * Type: is it a conference paper, a journal paper, a technical report * Event: if it is a conference paper, then one should be able to specify which conference was that. * Title: this one is pretty self-explanatory. * Authors: should be able to input a list of all the authors. * Abstract: this can be a logical expression. * Bibliography: this might seem irrelevant, but imagine that u can specify which other papers a given paper refers to. Even u can use GPapers also !

RE: Looking for a kernel developer/expert with SE Linux - anyone?
"If you are, or if you know anyone who is skilled in this area,", this line is confusing !! R u a recruiter / trying to know better about SELinux to search a better job in this area..... It is actually maintained by NSA regarding to design / developments on kernel ver 2.6 on and after. This section is so vast, though it is one of the most comprehensive security frameworks in current scenario, but it is certainly not the only one, AppArmor, which was originally developed by Immunix and then maintained by Novell (SuSE), is an alternative to SELinux that also uses the LSM framework. I'm not sure, whether this reply properly knocks ur Q..... but for making a comparison, plz see their comparisons: www.suse.com/support/security/apparmor/features/selinux_comparison.html
