Karmic Not Detecting Printer

Link to this post 27 Sep 09

I just installed Karmic Koala (Ubuntu 9.10) and for some strange reason, it is not detecting my printer. I have a Canon MP510 connected via USB. Printer worked great in 9.04, but now Ubuntu won't even detect that I have a printer connected. Any clues??

Do you have the firewall active? If so disable it and see if that helps.

do you have the drivers installed? I had an MP540 and OpenSUSE wouldn't find it. Had to install the drivers from their website. Luckily, they provide drivers in rpm and deb for MP540.

a quick search turned this page http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010395.asp
