ATI Radeon HD4850 driver for Jaunty

Link to this post 20 Jun 09

Hi,

I installed the proprietary ATI graphic card driver, however I found the performance is worse that this restricted driver is deactivated.

In this wiki site, it is mentioned that there is an issue regarding framebuffer with HD4850.

Anybody has successfully utilize this graphic card with another driver?

i had problems with intel graphics, for me it worked to use a downgrade of the drivers. so i use older drivers wich work well. try to find out if you could do the same with ATI.
this site helped me

I personally only use Nvidia cards because their proprietary drivers have aleays performed well on my system, however since the ATI drivers are now being developed as open source their quality should improve.

But if you are impatient and want it to work correctly now I would recommend an Nvidia based card.
