Major Security Breach at Ubuntu Forums

There has been a major security breach on the Ubuntu Forums site, which is now being reported by mainstream media outlets. Instead of the usual flow of messages on Ubuntu Forums, a terse splash page has been posted with instructions for community participants. Here is what you should do if you are a community participant, and which sites are and are not affected.

According to the splash page:

"There has been a security breach on the Ubuntu Forums. The Canonical IS team is working hard as we speak to restore normal operations. This page will be updated with progress reports...Unfortunately the attackers have gotten every user's local username, password, and email address from the Ubuntu Forums database."
