Hi,
Thank you for giving me such satisfactory answers which has improved my machine working ability.A small help I again needed from you all. When I am trying to open forums they are not getting opened at all or they are taking long time to get opened.I thought it was a problem with my service provider I complaint the net provider about the net speed I am getting,in return he told me that the service from his end is uninterrupted and no such cable problem.
Is this a cable problem shall i ask him to provide me with optical connections?

Are you having similar problems with any other pages? It's unlikely that the problem is with the forum pages. Which browser are you using?

Okay, you're not talking about just this forum, are you? I think that you are probably accessing sites that are not fully web-compliant, and require MS-specific extensions, hence the reason why Internet Explorer will work better. Why don't you try using Konqueror (if you are using KDE) or Opera, and see if the performance is the same?

Oh and marketraise, you should probably post this question to the Applications forum, where it's more appropriate and might get some more attention.

What forums are we talking about here? And are we only talking about forums? Do you find some other sites to be slow as well? Best if you post links to websites/forums that you find slow at your end and we'll see if they are slow for us as well.

As far as using Internet Explorer for some forums/websites goes, that's because those websites are not geared to be accessible on any other browser. It's not a very common practice but many many sites still do that.

And I'm going to move this thread to Miscellaneous Discussion since the topic here is not Linux related.

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/speed-up-firefox-web-browser.html == I've often found after a fresh install that I have to change various FF settings to get a better speed for loading pages, that link has instructions on how to change the settings, it worked pretty well for me.
