Subject: Duel monitors with Intel Mobile GM965 Chipset

Hello,

I am running a Acer Aspire 5630 laptop with Intel's Mobile GM965 Chipset. I am having problems getting my desktop to stretch across my two monitors. One is my laptop monitor and the second is a NEC AccuSync 70 (which ubuntu 8.10 has the driver for). If i hook up the NEC and reboot it has no problem cloning my output across the two, but like i said i want it to stretch. If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thank you, much.

I believe DisplayConfigGTK lets you configure the second monitor such that the display expands to include the second monitor rather than clone it:

Cheers!

ive never tried this in ubuntu but u could try configuring xorg.conf and manually add the parameters for your display configuration:

Code:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "IntelGMi"
Option "TwinView" "true"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "LeftOf"
Option "MetaModes" "1400x1050,1400x1050"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1400x1050"
EndSubSection
EndSection
