Subject: Knoppix Replacement?

I have an old PIII box, without a hard drive or the ability within the bios to boot from USB. It currently gets occasional use as a browsing machine using a live Knoppix CD and a pen drive to save permanent settings. It works well.

Just for a change I fancy trying another distro. Ten minutes with google hasn't turned up an answer, what other distro could I use that will run on an old machine, using just a live CD and a USB pen for permanence? I fancy giving either debian or hardy heron a go, is it (relatively easily) possible with this set up?

I'm a fan of Mandriva ONE.

I believe it's purposely built for faster / more current machines, but during the boot process menus pop up alowing you to enable / disable "fancy feature" (beryl / compiz / VESA )

you should be able to download the ISO from mandriva.
