Subject: Running Wine

Hey there,

I posted a little while ago about getting into Linux. Well now I'm happily running Mint 5.0 and I love it. My question is about wine. I'm not sure if its installed correctly. I mean I have the icon and everything in my start menu but I can't seem to run anything off of it. The programs I'm trying to run are Battlefield 2 and Windows Live Messenger. I mean I use aMSN but it seems like my webcam quality is horrible on it. I ran it for a couple months on Windows and it was crystal clear. I already tried messing with the A/V but I'm going to try again. But earlier when I tried to install Windows Messenger I couldn't even open the .exe file. I guess my question is if everything is working then how do I use it right? Thanks so much for your time everybody

Not everything works in Wine. I dont know if Battlefield 2 will work because it is a game and those are hit and miss.

As far as the messenger, use Pigden. It is in Mint repositories and you can use MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, etc all at the same time and you will even share buddy lists. Try that one.

Can Pidgin do video chat? I'd like to use it when I deploy to chat with my wife.

I don't think so but you can use Skype.
