Subject: Vista with Linux, does it, can it?

I would like to use Linux on a computer with an OS of Vista. I need to know which version would work whether its Red Hat version 5 or 7. and What exacty do I need in specifications to my hard drive? Partitions,

And is a Dual boot possible with vista or do I have to revert back to an XP system?

Please let me know , I would appreciate all information as I do want to be able to use and operate Linux.

Thank you.

Dual booting is possible with Vista. I would suggest that you try a Live CD first, to ensure hardware compatibility, and also to find the distro. that you like best. I suggest Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Fedora. Others here, I'm sure, will suggest their favourite Live CD distros.

I myself, didn't use a partition, I installed linux, in windows vista, and somehow from there, it allowed me to dual boot, no worrying about partitioning... when I booted up linux for the first time, it went through a surprisingly fast install process, without the cd...

Dual booting is possible with any PC, so you should just be able to boot up from the live cd, and install it...

I guarantee Mr. Frum that your installation took care of the partitioning for you. There is no way to have a native Linux installation and Vista share the same partition without serious modification.
