I have a Toshiba Sattellite 2100 CDS laptop w/ AMD-K6 3D processor 160 mb ram and would like to load Linux on it . Will I have a problem running any of the hardware on the laptop? Also is there a type of Linux that would work best on my laptop ? I noticed there are different places to get Linux from ...
Thanks , Bill

What you should do is to make a list of the hardware on your laptop and check for hardware compatibility at each site of any distro you are considering. Here is a link to Ubuntu's compatibility page.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport

You should be able to find similar pages at most of the other distros.
Good luck.

If it ain't broke, you aren't trying hard enough.

May I recommend that you focus on distributions that come with the Xfce window manager as they commonly have a smaller resource foot print. Xubuntu is the best distribution for beginners.
