If it were mine I would look for a rpm based distro like fedora 16 LXDE Spin or OpenSuse with LXDE as desktop for delta-rpms (which would be extremely useful with that configuration) and then I would install pekwm git version for using it as graphical desktop. There are many urls teaching how to do these kind of things, but the main knowledge is learning about your hardware. |

Most modern mainstream distros will be far too resource intensive for your little computer. Fedora 16 will probably not run, much less even install on 256MB of memory. Fedora 16 running without a GUI still uses up the better part of 200MB. You'll need an ultra low resource distro such as Damned Small Linux or something similar. |
