Try connect to router and connect using network manager panel. With the driver loaded go to NM and select wireless network enter ur networking info, and then try to activate. It shows the NM an active connection.
u may check if the connection associated to router by typing the command like: sudo iwconfig
If cannot connect with NM, can remove it / try an alternative gui such as gtk wifi, or wifi radar. See here for steps / good refs:
