  • Just in case you haven't found an answer yet, and for those looking for the same solution in the future:
    The answer is less about finding a distribution to do this and more about modifying a user account to suit your needs. I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and there are two options: Either set up a standard account or simply have people use the Guest account. You can then limit the use of unauthorized applications by setting the file permissions for the programs as needed.
