  • If you never had items showing on your drop down menus, I'm guessing you had a bad install. Even with the lightest options, menu items should appear. Perhaps running a software update would fix it.
    That said, Linux Mint 10 is now a couple releases old since version 13 is out. Unless you have a reason, I'd copy any data off and try out a newer version rather than going through all the updates that are surely there for 10.
