Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Systems Management What qa stands for in command rpm -qa vsftpd?
  • qa stands for "Query All"

Assuming you are attempting to find out if you have the Very Secure FTP Daemon installed, you want:

    rpm -qa | grep vsftp

rpm -qa will show you all installed RPMs, piping it through grep will limit the list to RPMs containing the string "vsftp".

  • If u r Linux expert, simply try to get answer ur Q by typing in terminal as:
    man rpm
however, q - stands for Query and
a - stands for All like query all installed packages.
This command is more powerful if u pass this like:
    rpm -qa | grep vsftpd
    and see the difference !
