Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Hardware How do I fix "can't open file on cdrom" in linuxMint 14 ?
Answers
  • Most probably the cd/dvd (whatever u used) is corrupt and not readable particular this track / file by ur system.
Try to duplicate the dvd via dd command. If the file is so important, use ddrescue(www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/ddrescue.html)tool.

See here actual cause for I/O error: www.atmos.washington.edu/~ovens/junk/ifc7docs/f_ug/err_io.htm
