Home Learn Linux Linux Answers Desktop Can I remove Windows XP and just use Ubuntu 12.10?
Answers
  • Yes, absolutely, and here is a step-by-step tutorial: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Installing-Ubuntu-12-04-LTS-266201.shtml

On the step titled "Allocate drive space" simply select: erase (Windows XP) and install. (Or the third option down.) This will completely wipe out XP and give Ubuntu all of the disk space.

  • Of course, why not !! Any Linux distro has strong GRUB(GRand Unified BootLoader) utility, which can easily manage other OS other than Linux (multi OS). Just simply insert Ubuntu cd/dvd into ur cd/dvd drive and restart ur computer. After that, follow its on-screen instructions and be care when it asks for partition, not select auto proposal/ system generated proposal, better choose custom and make partition as per ur needs. Try to use latest version of Ubuntu.
