  • It sounds as if your device is not supported by BT5. The cd/dvd may not have the driver for your device included with it or there may be a missing firmware file that is needed to use the driver. With most distributions running from cd/dvd it's not easy to load a driver that doesn't come with it. You would need to find a driver for your device compiled for the same kernel version as the cd (uname -r will show you the version the cd/dvd uses). If the cd does contain the needed driver and any firmware needed, it could possibly be not loading it, although it's unlikely since most live distributions error on the side of loading all or most drivers during boot. Since you did not provide the device information, providing step-by-step directions isn't possible.
