How do I set up a wireless connection for Ubuntu 12.04? I have a wired desktop PC in a WiFi building. My connection to internet is with ethernet and phone line. I want to set up wireless connectionso I dont need ethernet. I dont have a router. I have a Netgear wireless adaptor NT150 (WNA1100) but I am lost about installation since the CD they sent was for Windows. I have only Linux installed. I upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 in order to make the adapter work. What commands do I need and what drivers do I need or what packages do I need? I dont know much tech stuff.

Here you have two choice.

1)Using NdisWrapper (enables the use of Microsoft Windows drivers for wireless network devices such as USB modems , pci device etc .. )

If you lost the CD , I hope you can download from the netgear website.

2)Need to find correct chipset and find its supported driver for linux. I believe its using realtek chipset

I believe some realtek chipset is supported in Ubuntu 12.04. So it will detect automatically. check before you go for above two options

"iwconfig" run this command to know about your wireless interface
also give a scan using this command "iwlist wlan0 scan"
