  • A couple very good options for someone who is new to linux would be
    1. Zorin OS 6.2 Lite
    2. Linux Lite OS

    If you have the same video card which came with your computer, it likely will not be fully compatible with either of these 2 distros or other ones. It can still be used. When you boot up and arrive at the desktop screen, you will not see it properly. You have to do something along the lines of Right click, select all settings, select monitor resolution and play around with it till the screen shows up properly. If you choose to install, do not select "require login" at the install. Configure that later on if you want.
